Fans of Good Morning Britain said a Tory MP "should be ashamed of himself" while defending the Prime Minister today.
Conservative MP, Brendan Clarke-Smith, appeared on the morning talk show to defend the Prime Minister as he received a grilling from Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid. Despite it being proven that Boris Johnson had broken his own rules during the coronavirus pandemic, he still had 60% of Tory MP's backing him.
Mr Clarke-Smith was one of them and desperately tried to defend his colleague despite many people no longer having any confidence in him. Richard asked: "How concerned are you that so many people called the Prime Minister a liar?" He replied: "I think there's a general unpleasantness in politics at times really and people could be more civil with their language."

Richard interrupted him as he said: "No, can you answer the specific question, that specific point. What do you make of so many people accusing him of just being a liar?" The MP answered as he said: "I mean going into what was actually in the Commons, and people spoke about ministerial codes and so on and the Prime Minister said that what he was telling the Commons at the time was based on the information that he had."
Richard interrupted again as he said: "It's not just that. Sorry to interrupt again, I do want to hold you to this. It's not just that. The Prime Minister is roundly condemned for generally being a liar. It's a very very severe accusation." Susanna added: "He is being investigated for it."
The MP replied: "Some people do not like the Prime Minister. They've just never liked him whether that's for his electoral success, because of Brexit or other reasons and I think you always have to accept there will be people who dislike personalities in politics - that's always the case.
"Now, I don't think it's very nice to be called a liar. It's unparliamentary language, we're not allowed to use that in the chambers. And with the public, we had a very polarizing few elections."
Fans on Twitter bashed the MP further and criticised the interview. Daisy said: "What a shocking interview and pathetic argument / responses from the Tory on #GMB He should be ashamed of himself. Brendan Clarke-Smith. They're just not listening are they!! @GMB"
Clive said: "Car crash on an interview on #GMB". Another user said: "Brendan Clarke-Smith MP stay away from the cameras….you’re clearly not even listening to the questions put to you, so out of touch."
