TORY leadership hopeful Tom Tugendhat will be pleased that he's had a fair few endorsements from Scottish party figures – but he should probably do some more research on them, if a new press release is anything to go by.
Another embarrassing gaffe has hit the MP, just days after his office repeatedly mis-spelled the village of Gordon as "Gordan" in a media statement.
And don't forget that he has already had to change his campaign slogan after realising it was an acronym for "turd".
Tugendhat's latest error is a particularly humiliating one, as it saw him inadvertently invent an endorsement from an MSP that doesn't exist.
"Brian Whittle MSP and Alexander Brown MSP endorse Tom Tugendhat to be Conservative Leader," his early-morning release read.
Ten points for whoever can spot the problem there ... drum roll please ...
That's right; there's no MSP called Alexander Brown.
Half an hour later, a new release was issued correctly identifying the MSP as "Alexander Stewart". That one actually exists, and he represents Mid Scotland and Fife.
If things are going so well in your Scottish campaign, Tom, there's no need to start creating fictional politicians to endorse you ...
Unfortunately for Tom, it's not just the past few weeks which have led to red-faced moments north of the Border.
Back in 2020 in a Question Time appearance he tried to attack the Scottish Government by criticising the design of the "Queensferry Bridge".
That would be the Queensferry Crossing to the uninitiated.
Despite all these Scottish Tories insisting that Tom's the right guy to save the Union, it certainly seems he has a bit more reading to do on Scotland if he really wants to make that happen ...
