Tory gets own back on Bury MP who defected to Labour with steel chair treatment

"BAH GOD IT'S DEHENNA DAVISON MP WITH A STEEL CHAIR!" It may not quite be Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs The Rock (or whoever is big in wrestling these days) but one Tory MP certainly got their own back against their former colleague in explosive fashion last night.

Bury South MP, Christian Wakeford, hit the headlines last year when he defected from the Tories and sat on the Labour benches at the start of this year. This came as he revealed he had sent a letter of no confidence in Boris Johnson's leadership during the 'Partygate' scandal.

This caused widespread anger amongst Conservative MPs as many felt he owed his slim victory by less than 500 votes in the constituency to Boris Johnson's campaign. Many probably privately wish they could have got their own back in the squared circle of the wrestling ring. One was given this opportunity last night.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Wrestling travelled to World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) Clash at the Castle pay-per-view event in Cardiff last night, including Mr Wakeford and Conservative MP for Bishop Aukland, Dehenna Davison. And in a bizarre but hilarious video shared by Mr Wakeford the two did a little bit of wrestling themselves to settle their differences.

Ms Davison hits Wakeford with a devastating chair shot before getting the three count for the win. "She’s been dying to do that since I crossed the floor," Wakeford said.

I don't think we'll see either of these two at Wrestlemania any time soon, but, personally, I think people would tune into politics a lot more if MPs were allowed steel chairs in the House of Commons. One for the new head of WWE, Tripple H, and Lindsay Hoyle to think about perhaps.
