West Ham fans were left drenched as the Stratford stadium and other parts of east London were flooded amid torrential rain on Thursday evening.
Huge downpours bucketed down on the concourse ahead of the club’s Europa league clash with TSC Backa Topola.
In footage posted to social media, streams of water were seen cascading from the roof of an internal bar, creating pools of water that were dodged by football fans.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said it was as wet inside the stadium as it was outside, while another joked about a new “waterfall feature”.

Despite the wet weather conditions before the match, the rain eased off and seemed to have no effect on the evening’s game.
Flooding was also seen inside Stratford Westfield shopping mall, with staff filmed mopping up floors while shops and restaurants closed on Thursday afternoon.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning overnight on Wednesday and warned of flooding across southeast England, while several rail services closed on Thursday morning, causing commuter chaos.
Forecasters said the heavy rain was the result of the remnants of Hurricane Nigel sweeping across the UK from the Atlantic in the wake of Hurricane Lee, prompting flood warnings in northern England this week.
On Friday in London some showers could become heavy with a chance of thunder, the Met Office said. Sunny conditions continue into the weekend with a high of 19C.
