Toronto Raptors center Kelly Olynyk has inked a significant two-year contract extension worth $26.25 million, as confirmed by his agent on Monday. The deal, negotiated by agent Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports, secures Olynyk with the Raptors until the conclusion of the 2025-2026 NBA season. This extension allows Olynyk to benefit from the maximum five percent annual raises permitted under the agreement.
Originally from Canada, Olynyk joined the Raptors following a trade with the Utah Jazz in February. The Raptors strategically acquired Olynyk to bolster their frontcourt alongside Jakob Poeltl, with the intention of extending his contract, a plan that has now come to fruition.
Throughout the current season, the 32-year-old Olynyk has showcased his skills by averaging nine points per game, a career-high 4.2 assists, and an impressive 54% shooting accuracy from the field. Notably, Olynyk is among a select group of six players who have achieved a remarkable shooting percentage of 39% from beyond the arc and 60% on two-point field goals this season, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
Olynyk's NBA journey began with the Boston Celtics, where he spent over three seasons before stints with the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, and most recently, the Utah Jazz. His versatile playing style and consistent performance have made him a valuable asset for the Raptors as they continue to strengthen their roster for future seasons.
