Toronto man allegedly spent years faking being a pilot. Now he faces up to 20 years in prison

Dallas Pokornik was never really a pilot or airline personnel. But from January 2020 through October 2024, the 34-year-old Toronto resident allegedly executed a sophisticated, multiyear airline fraud that exploited the industry’s internal booking and security systems. Pokornik impersonated active airline personnel throughout this period, using a fake ID to enable himself to fly for free.

According to People, Pokornik actually worked legitimately as a flight attendant for a Toronto-based commercial carrier from July 2017 to October 2019. However, his tenure ended without him obtaining an airman’s certificate or pilot license. From then on, he allegedly opted for a life of fraud and was accused of getting 200 free flights from U.S. airlines before he was finally arrested in Panama.
