The SC ollegium headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud recommended the Centre to elevate Chief Justice of Allahabad HC Justice Rajesh Bindal and Chief Justice of Gujarat HC Justice Aravind Kumar to the apex court. He told the government that five names which were earlier recommended and pending it\'s approval shall have precedence over these two names and they be notified first.

A sessions court in Gandhinagar sentenced Asumal Harpalani alias Asaram to life imprisonment after holding him guilty of rape and sodomy, one decade after a former devotee made the complaint against him. According to one of the lawyers present, the 82-year-old convict lamented: ‘Aur bhi saza karva dete!’ (you could inflict even more punishment) on hearing the sentence.
