NEW DELHI: Indian women's hockey team captain Savita Punia on Tuesday said that they no longer feel intimidated by higher-ranked opponents and facing stronger teams ignites a different kind of energy within her teammates.
Under coach Janneke Schopman and Punia's leadership, the Indian team has achieved new highs. Following a commendable fourth-place finish at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and a disappointing ninth-place finish at the subsequent World Cup, the team has experienced significant progress. Their successes include winning the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games and emerging victorious in the Nations Cup in 2022.
