1. Udupi Town police book an abetment to suicide case against Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K. S. Eshwarappa after contractor Santosh K Patil from Belagavi was found dead in a lodge in Udupi on April 12. Basavaraj and Ramesh, two aides of Mr. Eshwarappa, were also booked under Section 306 read with 34 of IPC. The elder brother of the deceased Prashanth Goudappa Patil filed a complaint at 2.20 a.m. on April 13. Post-mortem to be conducted today.
2. Upping the ante demanding resignation of Mr. Eshwarappa, Congress leaders met Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot this morning. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, meanwhile, has promised impartial probe.
3. Karnataka State Contractors Association is holding a press conference regarding Santosh K. Patil suicide and their earlier allegations of corruption.
4. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is on a tour of coastal Karnataka, will meet leaders of Dalit organisations.
