Across 166 primary and secondary schools in Liverpool 2,405 suspensions were given and 41 pupils were permanently excluded in the school year 2020/21.
Here are the top five schools with the highest exclusion and suspension rates per 100 pupils.
Out of a possible 31,781 pupils in state-funded secondary schools 40 were permanently excluded and 1,939 suspension were administered, according to data released by the Department of Education this summer. This means on average around six pupils per 100 are suspended and one pupil per 800 are excluded during 2020/21.
For state-funded primary schools the number are drastically lower. Out of 41,121 only one pupil was permanently excluded and 304 suspensions were given. This means less than one pupil per 100 were either suspended or excluded during their time in little school .

The De La Salle Academy
This Croxteth based school which only had 381 students had the highest exclusion and suspension rates in the city during the school year 2020/21. The state-funded school had 150 suspensions, according to the Department of Education.
While these suspensions could be multiple per one child the rate of suspensions per 100 pupils is 39. The school permanently excluded six pupils in the same school year. The means for every 200 pupils there were three excluded. The ECHO approached De La Salle for a comment.
The Academy of St Nicholas
This Garston-based school had the second most highest number of pupils excluded in the city for the 2020/21 school year. The catholic school which was home to 825 pupils excluded five of them. This means for every 200 pupils one pupil is excluded.
The school also gave 101 suspensions meaning, on average, for every 100 pupils 12 were suspended.
Headteacher Ms Jeniffer Sing said: "The Academy of St Nicholas has a clear school behaviour policy in place and uses an inclusive approach to manage behaviour to create a calm, safe and supportive environment conducive to learning and where all students can flourish.
"We work with students to resolve any misbehaviour and misconduct, and continually strive to improve and maintain high standards of behaviour. However, in some cases, particularly when a student is persistently disruptive and support or sanctions are not deterring misbehaviour, further action may be needed.
"The decision to exclude a student permanently is only ever in response to a serious breach or persistent breaches of the school's behaviour policy or where allowing the student to remain in school would seriously harm the education or welfare of the student or others such as staff or students in the school."
Notre Dame Catholic College
This Everton-based school had the third highest suspension rate in the city. The school had 913 pupils in the 2020/21 school year and administered 111 suspensions. This converts to a suspension rate of 12 per 100 pupils.
While the school had the third highest suspension rate they have a relatively low exclusion rate in comparison to other two schools. Three students were permanently excluded meaning for every 300 pupils, one is excluded. Notre Dame was approached for a comment.
Cardinal Heenan High School
This all boys comprehensive school was home to 1,362 pupils. They had the fourth highest suspension rate in the city after they made 111 suspensions in the one school year. On average for every 100 pupils 11 are suspended.
Despite the high suspension rate the school based in West Derby did not exclude any pupils during the school year 2020/21. The school was approached by the ECHO for a comment
Alsop High School
The Walton-based high school home to 1,501 pupils had 256 exclusions/ suspensions. No pupils were excluded in the year 2020/21 but there were 256 were suspension from the multi-academy trust.
This means for every 100 pupils 17 are suspended. The ECHO approached the school for a comment.
