Tony McGregor rivals coinage rant with cringeworthy car video

Tony McGregor has rivalled his infamous coinage rant with another cringeworthy video.

The father of UFC star Conor shared a behind the scenes video of him going to purchase a new car. Tony claims to have splashed €150,000 on a 221-reg Porsche Panamera complete with personalised plates from Dublin car salesman Alan Lewis.

The registration plates end with the number 188, which is the name of Tony's yacht and the amount his son received in his weekly social welfare payment when unemployed before breaking into the UFC. In the video posted on his Instagram account, Tony was clearly excited as he headed off to get his hands on his new car.

Describing himself as the captain of the 188, the 61-year-old explains he has been waiting over a year to get the car before the theme song from Netflix show Narcos begins to play. Tony mentions that delays to getting the car were caused because of Covid-19, a global shortage of supplies and Russia's invasion of Ukraine before stating that's his "first world problem".

He added: "I know other people are in a very difficult situation, but I'm not! And I'm going over to pick up my Porsche today."

Tony then boasts he is like a "secret service agent" as he says he "loves the smell of fresh leather in the morning" before claiming "there is only one of this Porsche in this country and I have it".

It is far from the first time that Tony has left people cringing after posting a video online. Back in 2018, he was left bemused as he was handed €17.30 in change from a 'crisp' €20 note when he bought his DART ticket.

Problems ensued however when the father of three revealed that there was no space for such 'coinage' in his custom made Hugo Boss suit.

He said: “When I got to Lansdowne Road station I tendered a brand new crisp €20 note into the automatic machine looking for a single ticket to Dun Laoighaire. They had the bloody cheek to give me back coinage, €17.30, and a miserable little one-way ticket.

“They gave me all that coinage. I have no room to put those coins anywhere. I wear a slim-fit, hand-fitted Hugo Boss suit.”

As thousands watched his rant, the internet sprung into action, and a GoFundMe page was even set up to get Tony a leap card!

Even his son was embarrassed for him and said afterwards: "I'm thinking 'Where’s me ma to get that man’s phone out of his bleedin hands?' Somebody get that man's phone off him!"

It's hard to know what he'll make of Tony's most recent video.
