Ron Simons, a renowned actor turned successful screen and stage producer, has sadly passed away at the age of 63. Simons, known for his exceptional work in both theater and film, leaves behind a legacy of artistic excellence and groundbreaking productions.

Simons' New York-based production company, SimonSays Entertainment, announced his unexpected death on Wednesday, although no specific cause was provided. The company expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their dear friend and collaborator, Ronald Keith Simons.

Throughout his career, Simons achieved remarkable success, earning four Tony Awards for his outstanding productions. His Tony-winning shows included 'Porgy and Bess,' 'A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder,' 'Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,' and 'Jitney,' showcasing his diverse range and talent as a producer.

Simons also made significant contributions to the film industry, producing acclaimed movies such as 'Night Catches Us,' 'Gun Hill Road,' 'Blue Caprice,' and 'Mother of George.' His commitment to promoting diversity and representation in entertainment was evident in his work, with Simons championing projects that highlighted stories from underrepresented communities.

Before transitioning to a career in entertainment, Simons had a successful corporate background, holding degrees from Columbia College and Columbia Business School. Despite his early achievements in the business world, Simons followed his passion for acting and eventually found success on stage and screen.

Following the resurgence of conversations around race and representation in the wake of George Floyd's death, Simons was heartened to see Broadway embrace greater inclusivity in its Tony Award nominations.

His dedication to amplifying marginalized voices and fostering a more inclusive entertainment industry will be remembered as a key part of his enduring legacy. Ron Simons' contributions to both theater and film have left an indelible mark on the industry, inspiring future generations of artists to strive for excellence and representation.
