The Ohio State Buckeyes are continuing to shake up the coaching staff and that includes promotions. The latest involves Tony Alford. Last season Alford had the title of assistant head coach and running back coach, but this season Alford will now have run game coordinator on his resume as well.
Alford has a phenomenal reputation for churning out top-notch backs and has been with the Ohio State football program since 2015. Perhaps this promotion came out of fear as rumors were swirling that Alford would be up for some other jobs this off-season, but that is neither here nor there as Alford is staying in Columbus for at least 2022.
Ohio State announces the promotion of longtime assistant Tony Alford to run game coordinator. He's coached Ezekiel Elliott, Mike Weber, J.K. Dobbins and may have his best back on campus in rising sophomore TreVeyon Henderson.
