Tony Adams names the one Arsenal player that consistently 'scares' him and it isn't Nuno Tavares

Tony Adams was critical of Cedric Soares despite Arsenal defeating Manchester United 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta 's men took the lead early on at the Emirates Stadium through young left-back Nuno Tavares after David de Gea parried Bukayo Saka's effort right into the Portuguese Under-21 international's path. Hale End academy graduate Eddie Nketiah then thought he had doubled the lead shortly before the half an hour mark only for VAR to rule his finish as offside but Saka was awarded a penalty for a foul in the same passage of play.

The England international made no mistake from 12 yards but Cristiano Ronaldo scored just two minutes later to bring the away side back into proceedings. Tavares then gave away a silly penalty at the beginning of the second half but countryman Bruno Fernandes could only find the post with his spot-kick before Granit Xhaka clinched all three points for the Gunners thanks to a stunning long-range effort.

After the game, Arsenal icon Adams claimed that he thinks his old side can secure a top-four finish if they are able to get right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu fully fit, singling out the Japanese international's deputy Cedric for criticism. Speaking about the race for, Adams told Premier League Productions: “It could be a north London shootout now

“Spurs have got Liverpool away and Arsenal coming up, those are going to be the two pivotal games I think in the top-four race. It’s been a great comeback for Arsenal after those three defeats.

"We’ve had a few injuries too. Tomi (Tomiyasu) came back right at the end there which is great because I’m still scared about Cedric.

"He scares the life out of me so it’s good to see Tomi back in action. If we can get him back and get solid defensively, I think we’ve got fourth.”
