Toni Kroos shares classless response to Real Madrid's Champions League win over Man City

Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has posted a truly classless message in response to a devastating comeback from his side that gunned down Manchester City on Wednesday night. City were left heartbroken in their quest for elusive Champions League honours on a night of intense drama.

After heading to Spain with a one-goal advantage following the pulsating opening leg, City were seemingly set to book their flights to Paris when Riyad Mahrez curled into the top corner with 15 minutes to play. At that stage they were 5-3 ahead on aggregate. However, there were some unthinkable events to follow.

Rodrygo scored twice in added-time to send the tie to an additional 30 minutes. Stunned by those scenes, there was even worse to come for City as Karim Benzema made his mark from the penalty spot for the second time over the course of an exciting yet gut-wrenching Champions League showdown.

It means Real will take on Liverpool for the biggest prize in European football on Saturday, May 28. As for City, it was a case of what might and perhaps ought to have been in the Spanish capital.

While this result was every bit as painstaking as the one they suffered in last season's showpiece against Chelsea, there is no time for City and Guardiola to dwell as they promptly turn their attention back to a Premier League title race with Liverpool.

Guardiola showed grace in defeat as he headed straight for Real manager Carlo Ancelotti at the final whistle. Even after that mark of respect, though, Germany midfielder Kroos did not get the memo as he posted a classless tweet on the back of the result; sending out four laughing face emojis.

Needless to say, it has sparked a furious reaction from City supporters.
