Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul fight rules decision made with boxers told who is winning

Tommy Fury and Jake Paul's fight on Sunday night will be subject to the WBC's open scoring rules, meaning that they will be told the score halfway through the contest.

The WBC have sanctioned the bout and will offer a cruiserweight world ranking to the winner as well as a belt which has been made specifically for the bout. The sanctioning body have been big supporters of the contest as a whole and their cruiserweight world title will be decided on the undercard with Badou Jack facing Ilunga Makabu.

The WBC is the only one of boxing's major sanctioning body which uses the open scoring system and its influence could be important with either fighter able to change their approach based on the score which they will be told at the end of the fourth round, if the fight lasts that long.

In addition to the scoring rules, there will be boxing's equivalent of VAR in operation for the eight-round contest, with fighters able to access the technology in order to review incidents within the fight.

Tyson Fury - Tommy's older half brother - revealed ahead of the fight that he has placed a £100,000 bet on the Briton to beat Paul in Saudi Arabia. “I've got 100 racks on it for an inside-the-distance stoppage, so if he loses, then I'll lose 100 bags as well. I've got him at 3/1,” said the heavyweight champion.

“I know Tommy is going to knock him out. What is a little bit stupid is I see all these experts and professional boxers picking Jake Paul over Tommy.

“I'm like, ‘What the hell are these guys watching?’, because Tommy will absolutely deck him. I think Tommy can get him out of there whenever really.

“It'll definitely be inside the distance and it won't be a points job for sure. Tommy wins by knockout.”
