Tommy Fury says KSI boxing fight was ‘a horrible watch,’ but blames opponent

Tommy Fury knows his fight with influencer KSI was not good. It was far from it.

The professional boxer and reality T.V. star thinks his fight against KSI in the main event of Misfits Boxing: The PRIME Card was a bad display of boxing.

The bout took place Saturday at AO Arena in Manchester, England. Fury won the fight by majority decision, as two judges scored the fight 57-56, while a third saw the fight as a draw.

“We knew it was going to be an awful fight,” Fury told Fight Hub TV. “My dad predicted this a week ago. He said it was going to be a very scrappy fight, it was going to be a horrible watch, and that’s exactly what it was.

“I’m not going to beat around the bush. Was it my best performance? No, very far from it, and it was a horrible watch. I haven’t watched it back yet. At the end of the day, what do you want it to be when just one man wants to hop up and down and not engage? In traditional boxing, you stand there and you fight. You don’t up and down the ring and jump in with a little shot. So it’s a scrappy, scrappy affair. Everyone knows what we’re doing. We all know KSI is awkward anyway. He’s not a boxer. He’s a horrible man to fight.”

Fury also had a point deducted for a shot in the back of the head. Fury thinks the referee favored his opponent, as KSI didn’t get a point deduction for clinching. He believes this didn’t help promote the action.

“Listen, the ref was on his side, clearly,” Fury said. “He never took a point off him the whole fight. He was holding the whole fight and every time I was putting my hands out like that, and he was holding. He was just jumping in with one shot and then holding. I was pressing all the time, and I was pushing and doing everything on the inside. I was pressing the pace and that’s what matters. KSI can’t just jump up and down and lunge in a shot and hold. What is that?

“… It is what it is. I came out with the W on my own town Manchester like I aid I would, and I thank Jesus Christ every single day for everything he gives me.”
