Tommy Fury majorly put his foot in it when he admitted to fiancée Molly-Mae Hague that having a boy would have been ‘ideal’.
The couple welcomed seven-month-old daughter Bambi back in January and their journey into parenthood has been captured in new reality TV show At Home With The Furys.
In the second episode of the Netflix series, the former Love Island stars can be seen telling Fury’s brother Tyson and his wife Paris that they are expecting their first child together.
Speaking to the camera later, Hague reflected: “I feel so excited about becoming a mum. It’s gonna be a whole journey and I am a little bit nervous for it. [Tommy] does try and hide it as well that he’s nervous, but I can read it all over his face that he’s terrified.”
Turning to Fury on the sofa, she then asks him: “Do you feel ready to become a dad?”
“I feel ready. I feel like it was a next step for us,” he replies.
As they already knew the gender at this stage, she then asks the loaded question of whether he would have “been potentially a little happier if it had been a boy?”
“Obviously, it would have been ideal to…” he begins, but before he can finish his sentence, Hague interjects with an incredulous: “What?!”
Trying to put forward his case, the boxer continues: “To have a son to take to the boxing gym and hold the pads for him. He can hit my hands. But…”
Still not convinced, Hague then asks: “What’s not ideal about a girl?”
Backtracking slightly, he comes back with: “There’s nothing not ideal about a girl. I’m just saying. Although, I wouldn’t push her into boxing, because getting punched in the face for a living…”
“It’s not that fun, is it?” she agreed, with him concluding: “It’s not a very smart way to make a living.”
Meanwhile, Hague has recently revealed that Fury has “moved out” of the family home away from the “distraction” of their baby as he prepares for his upcoming fight with YouTuber KSI in October.
