Tommy Fury lays down gauntlet to Jake Paul over rescheduled fight

Tommy Fury has issued a passionate call-out to Jake Paul over a rescheduled fight date in August after missing out on his opportunity last year.

The British star will make a return to the ring on April 23 against Daniel Bocianski on the undercard of his brother Tyson's heavyweight clash with Dillian Whyte. He has frequently called for a rescheduled clash with Paul after being forced to withdraw from their planned December bout after suffering a broken rib.

Fury insists he longer wants to "waste his breath" discussing a renewed meeting with Paul, but believes he would be the ideal opponent for his rival's planned ring return. "I see he wants to fight in August again, I'm not sure who he's going to fight but if he wants the viewing figures back, a big fight that people are interested in, he knows where it's at," Fury told Queensberry Promotions.

"All you've got to do to see that is look at any of his posts, I get tagged in so many a day going 'who should Jake Paul fight?' Tommy Fury is the only one and it's in England. Let me get through this fight and crack on with my career, then if Jake Paul wants it he can have it any time.

"I've already said that so there's no point in me wasting my breath any more on Jake Paul. He knows where it's at, but I've got my career to get on with, my career is blossoming, I'm fighting at Wembley Stadium in front of 100,000, I'm not looking for a MMA star to fight in some hall and get 60,000 views.

"I don't need to do that - I'm about to fight on probably the biggest show in UK history at Wembley, 100,000, I know I've said it a lot but it's an awfully big show. And everybody around the world will be tuning in, even Jake Paul will be tuning in himself. I can tell you that now, he'll be sat somewhere watching it on a screen and he'll think 'listen, this is the only big fight out there for me', 100 per cent."

Fury was told by Paul that he would have to fight a higher calibre of opponent such as Tyron Woodley to secure a rescheduled date. However the YouTube star has also admitted he could make Fury wait if he is to agree to meet him in the ring as previously planned.

The British star has admitted he has been frustrated with his lack of recent activity but is keen to secure the biggest fights available in the coming years. "It's been a frustrating time in my career," Fury continued. "Obviously the Jake Paul fight was set to go ahead and then I picked up a terrible injury, the worst you could have because there's no way of fighting possibly with a broken rib whereas any other injury I would have plodded on through and tried to get through.

"But that was that, that was last year, I've left that in that year and this year is all about winning, knockouts, having fun and getting big fights in. You can't start off the year in any bigger way than at Wembley, over 100,000 people. So I'm just ready to get in there, I feel like I've been training for a lifetime."
