Rangers playmaker Tom Lawrence is out of Saturday's crucial derby showdown with Celtic after picking up a knee injury.
The Wales caps sustained the knock during the 4-0 victory over Ross County, and along with several other first-team stars, played no part in the Premier Sports Cup win over Queen of the South on Tuesday. While Gio van Bronckhorst allowed some of his first-team starts a breather against the League One side after a relentless start to the season, the Ibrox boss has now revealed Lawrence will be on the sidelines for a few weeks.
Lawrence would have almost certainly have started his first derby showdown between the Glasgow rivals, having enjoyed an impressive start to lift in the Scottish Premiership. He has netted three goals so far and was a ket part in reaching the Champions League group stage through the playoff rounds. Speaking ahead of the trip to Celtic Park, the Rangers boss said: "Lawrence is not available for tomorrow, he will be out for a few weeks.
"We are very excited for the game tomorrow, a big game and we are ready for the task. We are ready for the challenge we face."
