Tom Holland has revealed why he chooses to keep his relationship with Zendaya private.
The Spider-Man star met Zendaya on the set of his debut solo Marvel movie, where he plays superhero, Peter Parker and she plays Peter's love interest, MJ.
"My relationship is the thing I keep most sacred. I don't talk about it. I try my best to keep it as private as possible," he admitted when asked about how he deals with life in the spotlight on Jay Shetty's podcast.
Speaking for himself and Zendaya, Tom added: "We both feel like that is the healthiest way for us to move on as a couple, so I do try to keep as removed from [Hollywood] as possible," he added.
Tom previously said that Peter and MJ's on-screen love was a helpful step in winning the 26-year-old over, telling Buzzfeed of how he developed a relationship with Zendaya: "It definitely helps when the characters you’re playing are falling in love with one another. You can sort of blur the lines a little bit, that’s kind of where my [charisma] is at."
Since then, Tom got candid about his relationship with the former Disney star, and the importance of keeping it "as private as possible."
Tom's revelation come after he spoke about his carpentry skills and how fixing a door helped him woo the actress.
“Carpentry is something I just really enjoy,” he told Unilad. “I made my mum’s kitchen table. I made my mum’s office. "I built all the cupboards in my bedroom. I built a little birdhouse with my granddad, I fixed my girlfriend’s door once really early on in our relationship."
“I was hanging out at her house and her door was broken,” Tom recalled. “I was like, ‘I’m gonna fix that door for you.’ And now we’re in love.”
Sources have since claimed that the pair have become "serious and permanent." An insider told US Weekly: "They’re both in settling-down mode and are absolutely planning for a real future together."
