The renowned actor expressed his concern over multiple ads circulating online that falsely feature his name, image, and voice endorsing miracle cures and pharmaceutical products without his consent.
Hanks clarified that he has no association with these advertisements or the products being promoted. He emphasized that he solely relies on his board-certified doctor for his type 2 diabetes treatment and urged his followers not to fall for these deceptive marketing tactics.
This is not the first instance of celebrities being targeted by AI-generated ads. Hanks previously shared a screenshot of a fake dental plan ad using his likeness on Instagram, cautioning his followers to be vigilant against such fraudulent schemes.
Other notable personalities, including Luke Combs, Piers Morgan, Nigella Lawson, and Oprah Winfrey, have also been victims of AI-generated ads misusing their images and voices to endorse dubious products and services.
Scarlett Johansson took legal action against a company for allegedly using her image and voice in deepfake advertisements. Similarly, she confronted another individual for appropriating her voice in a demo of an artificial intelligence model.
