Tom Cruise confirmed for lead role in major sequel

Tom Cruise Pete Maverick Mitchell Paramount
  • Paramount has confirmed that Tom Cruise will return to star as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in a third Top Gun film.
  • Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is also set to return, with Top Gun: Maverick screenwriter Ehren Kruger already working on the script.
  • Director Joseph Kosinski and co-stars Glen Powell and Miles Teller are expected to reunite with Cruise for the sequel.
  • The announcement follows the immense success of 2022's Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed nearly $1.5 billion globally and received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
  • Despite Cruise signing a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros. earlier this year, he is still able to work on the Top Gun franchise with Paramount.
