Tom Briscoe has declared his desire to sign a new contract with Leeds Rhinos. The outside back is off-contract at the end of the season but admits his preference is to sign a new deal with the club in the near future.
The 32-year-old is in his ninth season with the Rhinos, making 202 appearances and scoring 93 tries for the Headingley club in the process. But with his contract up at the year there is now some doubt over his long term future at the club.
But speaking to Rugby League Live, the former Hull FC winger admitted he was hopeful of securing a new contract.

"No talks yet," he said when asked about his future. "Obviously I would like to stay here, so we'll wait and see. The situation the club has been in hasn't helped with that but we'll see. If I keep playing and do what I can do, hopefully I'll get sorted off that back of that."
An ankle injury could see him forced to the sidelines for a period, which would be an undoubted blow for both him as he looks to secure a new deal. Briscoe has been an ever-present so far this season, switching from wing to centre to cover injuries across the squad.
"I'm happy just to be playing. At the start of the season, to not get a starting shirt was disappointing, so it's nice just to be playing. Whether it's wing or centre, I'm happy."
