Tom Brady's two-word reaction after his plea in first Threads post was ignored

Recently retired NFL star Tom Brady is amongst the wave of celebrities that have joined Threads, although one of his first posts didn't go well.

"Just trying to be early to the party for once," Brady said when making an account quickly after the new platform was launched. He then posted: "Hey my combine photo is banned on threads right? We're going for positivity right?"

Brady's combine photo is something that haunts the former athlete, although it's now something that he jokes about. Brady was made to stand shirtless back in 2000 before being drafted, and a then-awkward 23-year-old looked uncomfortable about the entire process.

The reaction to Brady's plea was expected as it led to fans doing the exact opposite, and the 45-year-old later replied to his own post with the words "apparently not" while adding another awkward photo of himself. Brady is one of millions to have downloaded the new app, with over 10 million downloads recorded in the first seven hours.

Threads is the new Meta alternative to Twitter, a project that's seen Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Tesla CEO Elon Musk clash in recent weeks. Zuckerberg is looking to rival Twitter, adding to his successful apps Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Musk and Zuckerberg have been in loose talks over a potential cage fight in recent weeks, with UFC president Dana White even attempting to make the bout happen. Zuckerberg has trained in mixed martial arts for a number of years, and Musk has recently begun training himself.

Twitter remains one of the largest social media platforms and is used by millions everyday, but many users have complained about the changes made by Musk since he purchased the company. Zuckerberg may have been planning the launch of Threads for some time, but the release of the alternative app has come at the perfect time.

95 millions posts were made in the opening 24 hours, and thousands of celebrities have flocked to the app in order to grow another large social following. Brady is one of them, but the seven-time Super Bowl winner has been joined by multiple sports stars.

Steph Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant are just some of the NBA players to sign up, and Harry Kane is one of the high profile footballers to join. Lando Norris is one of the F1 drivers to make an account, and due to it being linked with Instagram it's an easy process for everyone.

Brady hasn't been as active on Twitter as he once was, although it's his first offseason without preparing for another year of NFL action. Brady now has some quality time off from work, with his next venture not scheduled until 2024.

The former NFL champion has agreed to work for FOX Sports, although it won't be until the 2024 season meaning that Brady can enjoy 2023 as a fan. He has agreed to be a special guest at the New England Patriots' season opener though, and is awaiting confirmation from the NFL as he looks to invest in the Las Vegas Raiders.
