Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow recently enjoyed a surprisingly high ranking on a tier list from Peyton Manning.
But another all-time great has Burrow a little lower on his own list.
Appearing on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” at Fanatics Fest, Tom Brady rolled out his own top five and, unlike Manning, had multiple names in front of Burrow.
Brady put Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens over Burrow.
That was technically the end of the list and Brady praised Burrow’s connection with his teammates, though when prompted by Stephen A. Smith, agreed that Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets should probably round out the top five.
Of course, Brady tried to douse these rankings with the expected note: “I think for all of us, we can analyze before the point. At the end of the day, it’s gonna be up to them to prove to us, right or wrong, whether our decisions, our judgments, our hypotheses about them are right.”
As with Manning’s list, of course, all that matters is Burrow shows up, stays healthy and plays his game and he’s got a chance to manipulate lists like this.
That said, Burrow has earned some raised eyebrows in recent practices over his glove usage, so the upcoming days and weeks after Brady’s reveal should be pretty interesting.
