Tom Brady forced to evacuate his home due to Hurricane Ian with NFL games in doubt

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has been forced to leave his home and head to Miami as Florida braces itself for Hurricane Ian.

The storm has strengthened to a category 4 Hurricane, and those that have the means to do so have been fleeing the west coast in anticipation. One of those are the Brady family, and sport has of course been impacted too.

The Buccaneers will now practice at the Miami Dolphins training facility from Wednesday, as the home side will finish preparations that day before their Thursday night clash with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Buccanners face Patrick Mahomes ' Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, although the game could be in doubt if significant damage is caused.

Brady and wife Gisele Bündchen have taken their children to their home in Miami for the time being, according to People. The veteran quarterback spoke on Monday about having to adapt to their 'unique' situation ahead of Sunday. "This is a little different for me," Brady said on SiriusXM. "We had COVID for a couple years and now with this seems like a pretty intense hurricane coming our way.

"I don't think Tampa's probably - I don't think any place is very well suited for a hurricane to hit, but everyone in this area will be in our thoughts and prayers as we go through it." Brady went on to discuss how it affect preparations ahead of another key game against the Chiefs on Sunday, with the game not 100 percent guaranteed to go ahead.

"I know our team is going to have to adjust, go to Miami and practice there for the week, and then hopefully we can come back later in the week and play against the Chiefs Sunday night. I don't think that anyone's really prepared for this.

"I know I've been preparing all morning and get all my stuff outside, try to put it inside, try to get all the stuff on the ground level up a little bit higher. I'm right here on the bay so they're talking about pretty high storm surges and it's a scary thing. I will say that it's a scary thing when it really hits your doorstep."

The Buccaneers lost their first game of the season on Sunday as Brady was defeated by Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers side in Tampa, by a 14-12 score line. The Buccaneers struggled on the night with key members of their offensive line missing.

Therefore, the game against the Chiefs is the perfect opportunity to bounce back in style, with Mahomes suffering a disappointing loss on Sunday too. The Chiefs lost to the Indianapolis Colts, and Mahomes clashed with the offensive coordinator at half-time.

The Chiefs only scored three points in the second half, and lost 20-17 to the Colts. Although a strong side on their day, the Colts failed to register a single point the previous week, making it an even more ugly defeat for Mahomes.
