Tom Brady confuses NFL fans days into retirement with underwear picture after losing bet

Former NFL star Tom Brady has started off the week with a strange post on social media, with the 45-year-old pictured wearing nothing but underwear.

Brady retired from the NFL almost a week ago when he shocked the sporting world with a brief video explaining his decision. His retirement is "for good" this time after Brady initially retired last year, but then quickly changed his decision to play one final NFL season.

The former quarterback has been relatively quiet ever since, taking in retirement and coming to terms with no longer playing in the league. But he caught fans off guard Monday morning with a snap of him wearing his BradyBrand underwear, which received a mixed reaction.

Brady may be the most successful NFL player of all-time, but he's also invested his money in other areas as he looks to continue as an entrepreneur. One of Brady's projects is a brand of underwear, named after himself.

The perfect way to model Brady underwear is by putting them on Brady himself, and he's started off the week with a dressed down picture of himself, while plugging his product. Brady posted the picture on Twitter with the caption: "Did I do it right?"

It turns out that the post was more of an obligation rather than a sudden urge, as back in June 2022 Brady pledged to post his own photo wearing the underwear following an ad campaign. When releasing underwear to their collection, Brady said he would model them if his original tweet got 40,000 likes.

On Monday morning, the BradyBrand Twitter page tweeted the former NFL star, saying: "Hey @TomBrady we haven’t forgotten about this." And with his initial post on 48,000 likes, he then delivered on his promise.

Despite the context, and the clear marketing plug to his brand product, it really caught some fans off guard. "Tom I love you but what is this bro?" One fan said on Twitter.

"Tom been retired one week and already starting an Only Fans," another speculated. "Please unretire if this is how things are gonna be," a seemingly unimpressed fan responded.

"I immediately regret opening this Twitter app today. Hahaha! Enjoy retirement young fella," another added. It's clear that Brady is just pushing his brand, and who can blame him after retiring.

It remains to be seen what Brady's next steps are, as the 45-year-old continues to be linked with a blockbuster FOX deal to join their broadcasting team. It's unlikely Brady will agree anything until next season, as he enjoys his first off-season as a retired pro.
