Todd McShay believes the Commanders go wide receiver in 1st round

Draft day is here. The first round of the 2022 NFL draft begins Thursday night, and the Washington Commanders currently select No. 11 overall.

Early mock drafts had the Commanders all-in on the quarterbacks. However, the Carson Wentz trade changed everything. Washington’s focus shifted to finding Wentz help.

Throughout the pre-draft process, the Commanders have been linked to some of the top wide receivers. Drake London, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson have all been mentioned for Washington.

Who does ESPN’s Todd McShay believe lands in Washington? He’s hearing London or Olave.

Nothing new here, but the Washington Commanders are all in on finding another wide receiver. I’ve heard two very different nuggets on their preference at No. 11. One GM told me that buzz around the league points to Washington taking Ohio State’s Chris Olave, pairing him with a former Buckeyes teammate in Terry McLaurin. But another says London is rumored to be much higher on Washington’s board at the position. Regardless, it might be a moot point if London goes to the Falcons or Jets.

Either receiver would be a win for the Commanders. London brings size, contested-catch ability and can win from the slot. Olave is the draft’s top route runner and possesses blazing speed.
