Todd Cantwell reveals Michael Beale factor behind Rangers move

TODD CANTWELL has revealed how Michael Beale sold him on a switch to Rangers after completing his move from Norwich City.

The midfielder has become Beale's first arrival of the January transfer window as he seeks to put his mark on the Ibrox squad following his appointment as boss last month.

Cantwell has penned a long-term deal with the Scottish Cup holders and could make his debut in the Premiership clash with St Johnstone this weekend.

Beale has previously spoken positively about Cantwell's qualities following a number of impressive seasons south of the border in both the Championship and Premier League.

And the 24-year-old is confident the chance to work with Beale will bring out the best in him as he targets silverware successes in the coming years.

"This is a massive club and there is a massive responsibility when you sign for Rangers to be the player that the fans want to see.

"They want to see a player that works hard and a player that can win them games which is very important and that is something I am hoping I can bring.

“I think it was an important stage of my career and an important move.

“Speaking to Ross and the manager, they seem like two very good people and good at what they do.

“The manager was very clear with me and he laid out exactly what they like about me and what they want from me. As a player that’s all you can ask for is clarity.

“The chance to play in Europe and to win things - that’s why I am here, to win trophies.

"The manager was massive in terms of why I came here. It is really important to have a manager that believes in you and you believe in them.

“Not a lot of players say it but you need to be on board with everything if you want to get the best version of yourself.

“I feel the manager can get that out of me and I am looking forward to working with him."
