Todd Cantwell first Rangers goal lands three word Nicolas Raskin response after Fir Park thriller

Todd Cantwell smashed home his first Rangers goal in the thriller with Motherwell at Fir Park with his big moment to remember landing a three word response from Nicolas Raskin.

The two Ibrox January recruits have settled into life well in Glasgow to date and have struck up a strong bond both on and off the park. The former Standard Liege man missed out as Michael Beale's men showed their powers of recovery once more to respond from an early setback to run out 4-2 winners. Kevin van Veen opened the scoring for the hosts but James Tavernier curled home a free-kick before teeing up Fashion Sakala to turn the game on its head by the first minute of the second half.

Motherwell responded once more through Bevis Mugabi after some poor defending in the Rangers box but Cantwell was on hand to restore the visitors' advantage minutes later before Malik Tillman's stunner made sure of the points. It was a day of celebration for Cantwell who added to his first assist for the club last week against Raith Rovers with his first goal. He took to social media to share his delight and team-mate Raskin was quick to offer his congratulations.

Sharing the post of his team-mate, he wrote: "Well done bro." and tagged the former Norwich City man.. Giving his reaction on the six-goal thriller to Rangers TV, Beale explained: “I didn't like the first two or three minutes but after that I thought we were in control for most of the game.

“In the first-half our crossing wasn't very good and we spoke about that at half-time and straight away we saw an improvement and it was a fantastic second goal. It was also lovely for Todd [Cantwell] to get his first goal for Rangers and then it was a fantastic finish from Malik Tillman.

“My only frustration in the game was that we didn't score more and the two goals we conceded, but for us to play as attacking as we are sometimes to score goals you may have to concede one every now and then.

“It was quite a slow pitch actually, it was a good pitch but quite slow and the ball was holding up, so we needed to speed up in our passing, running and improve in our final cross.

“After the second goal you could see we were enjoying ourselves. We were playing football in the right way and counter-pressing really well. Overall, we can go into this international break in a really positive way, our form has been strong in the league, and we are showing really good form away from home.”
