Boxing heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has defended the price tag Chelsea paid for winger Mykhailo Mudryk this January, claiming he will win a Ballon d'Or in the future. The Ukraine international caught the eye over the past few months as his transfer saga developed.
It appeared as though Arsenal were destined to land the youngster from Shakhtar Donetsk after plenty of hints over joining the north London side. However, it was the Blues that pipped them to the target, securing a deal that could be worth as much as £88.5million if add-ons are achieved.
Since that high profile transfer saga played out, Mudryk has struggled to hit the ground running as he builds up fitness and gets used to his new surroundings. The clash with Leicester last weekend showed glimpses of his ability, with manager Graham Potter backing him to continue impressing.
