Todd Boehly summer transfer priorities revealed as Chelsea and Arsenal consider Palmeiras star

Chelsea have spent more money than any other Premier League club in the transfer market since Todd Boehly and the Clearlake Capital consortium completed a £4billion takeover at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have spent over £600million reshaping Graham Potter's squad with the arrivals of Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile and Co.

Despite all the new signings, there is still work to be done with Potter currently having over 30 players to select from in the senior team. A number of current players are expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer including the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic.

Attack is an area of concern for the Blues with Kai Havertz having failed to perform well in front of goal this term, scoring just eight times in 35 appearances across all competitions. Midfield is another area that will need strengthening in the summer despite Fernandez's arrival in January, with Chelsea now being linked with a move for Palmeiras star Raphael Veiga.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the 27-year-old Brazilian, who continues to be tipped for a switch to the Premier League. Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on the speculation and suggested the Blues are focusing on other priorities.

It’s not too surprising to see plenty players being linked with a move to Chelsea, but for now Romano is unconvinced by the Veiga links. On the recent talk surrounding Veiga's potential move to Chelsea, Romano said: “There are many clubs interested in Raphael Veiga.

"I’m not aware of advanced or concrete talks with Chelsea at this stage, despite recent speculation. It’s a very good opportunity on the market and this is why clubs are exploring this deal, but Chelsea have other priorities now.”

Veiga plays as an attacking midfielder for Palmeiras, which is a potential area the Blues may look to strengthen this summer. However, given that Potter has reverted back to his trusted 3-4-3 system in recent weeks and enjoyed some success with that formation, a creative midfielder is not a pressing concern for Chelsea.

A new defensive midfielder, striker and centre-back could all be on the club's agenda this summer. N'Golo Kante's long-term injury came as a massive blow for the Blues this season, whilst a future replacement for Thiago Silva may be required given his age.

football.london understands Chelsea have agreed a pre-contract with RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman has a £52million release clause in his contract that can be activated this summer and he may be exactly what the Blues need at the top of the pitch heading into next season.
