Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to become Chelsea's next manager. Frank Lampard is currently in charge as caretaker boss until the end of the season following Graham Potter's dismissal last month.
The Blues finally won their first game under Lampard as goals from Conor Gallagher, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix were enough to beat Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Chelsea had lost six consecutive games under the Blues legend before their 3-1 win on the south-coast on Saturday afternoon.
football.london understands that positive talks have been held with Pochettino in recent weeks despite no agreement being reached - yet. Now that the Blues have mathematically secured their Premier League survival for next season - we could expect to see some more movement regarding a new managerial appointment before the end of May.

A report from The Athletic states that after a comprehensive search, led by sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, a final decision is set to be made by Chelsea regarding a new manager being appointed 'in the days ahead' and an announcement will follow in due course. This suggests that confirmation of the next head coach could be announced before the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, May 13.
Pochettino remains the strong favourite to be appointed at Stamford Bridge after Julian Nagelsmann withdrew from the running and Vincent Kompany signed a new long-term deal to stay at Burnley. The Athletic's report adds that Lampard will stay in his post for Chelsea’s last four Premier League fixtures and collaborate with Stewart, Winstanley and the next manager ahead of that person assuming their role in the summer.
Lampard will have plenty of feedback and advice for the new manager after enduring a difficult run of results upon his return to Chelsea. The Blues legend will be able to advise which players are showing potential to become top players for the club, and also those that the club should consider moving on this summer with over 30 players in the first team squad.
