Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly held a meeting with Mason Mount last Friday ahead of the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old is a priority transfer target for Liverpool, whilst also attracting interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
Mount will have just 12 months left on his current deal this summer sparking speculation that he could leave the Blues in search for a new challenge after a difficult season at Stamford Bridge. The England international has rejected a number of Chelsea's previous contract proposals with the length of the new deal proving to be a key stumbling block for Boehly.
Mount wants a significant wage increase that represents his importance to the team, but is reluctant to sign a seven-year contract as it gives him fewer chances of negotiating improved terms in the future. The Blues would be open to selling the midfielder this summer if a contract agreement cannot be reached.

football.london reported earlier this month, Jurgen Klopp has made Mount his priority transfer target this summer as the Reds look to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season. Thomas Tuchel is keen to reunite with the Blues' midfielder at Bayern after the German replaced Julian Nagelsmann as manager earlier this month.
Boehly met with Mount last Friday and reiterated the midfielder's importance to the team and that he wants to keep him at Stamford Bridge long-term. A report from the Evening Standard suggests that the American co-owner asked the 24-year-old to agree to a new one or two-year deal to buy Chelsea some more time to prepare a fresh contract offer and ward off interest from Premier League rivals and Bayern.
A £70million price tag has also been placed on the England international's head but it is likely to be negotiated down with Manchester United and Newcastle also monitoring the situation, while Manchester City and Arsenal have also been linked. Mount is Chelsea’s reigning two-time Player of the Season but has had his most difficult season in west London yet after being dropped by Graham Potter, before suffering from injuries before Frank Lampard returned as the caretaker manager.
This approach is unlikely to work given Mount has clearly set his demands yet the club continue to fail in meeting them. The current situation between Mount and Chelsea looks as though an agreement will not be reached and the England international will leave the club and join Liverpool - who are leading the race for his signature.
