Chelsea interim sporting director and co-owner Todd Boehly could look to repeat a transfer trick of his to land a deal for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge ahead of the January window, with the Blues in need of a midfield rebuild.
Fernandez has impressed at a young age, seeing his stock continue to rise during the World Cup, where he was a key player in Argentina's eventual triumph. It led to him winning the Young Player of the Tournament award, with plenty of reports since claiming interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs.
Benfica have since responded with an official statement on his future, where they said that their aim is to keep Fernandez until the end of the season. The statement read: "We insist saying that our intention is to keep Enzo here until the end of the season."
