For the second year in a row, the Transylvania University women’s basketball team is undefeated heading into the Sweet 16. Head Coach Juli Fulks said she thinks she’s more nervous than her players.
“You know, maybe that's because once you're on the sideline, you don't have a whole lot of control besides calling the play, and then stand and clap. You know, they are a fiercely competitive group, it's their best strength, I'm, I actually start to think they hate losing more than they like winning, they just they love to compete.”
Like most coaches, Fulks prefers to take it “one game at a time.” That said, she acknowledges it’s nice to be home, with a chance to play again Saturday at the Clive M. Beck Center.
“You know, the entire week is easier when we are on a normal schedule, normal practice schedule, they're sleeping in their own beds. And we're, you know, on our main court, so big crowd, rims that we are used to shooting on, we are a team that takes 30 threes a game. And so, you always prefer to do that on your own rims than somebody else's.”
Transy tips off against Ohio Northern University Friday night at 7.
