The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 14-year-old student was taken into custody on Wednesday for allegedly bringing a gun to Apalachee High School in Georgia. This incident occurred at the same school where a tragic mass shooting took place in September, resulting in the deaths of two students and two teachers.

School resource officers apprehended the student at approximately 2:02 p.m., and the arrest was carried out without any issues. The sheriff's office stated that the student cooperated with law enforcement and did not make any threats with the gun.

The identity of the student has not been disclosed due to their age, and they have been transferred to a youth detention center. The student is facing charges of theft, being a minor in possession of a gun, and possessing a weapon on school premises.

No threats made with the gun, student cooperated with law enforcement.

Following the recent incident, the Barrow County School System decided to cancel classes at Apalachee High School for Thursday and scheduled a meeting to discuss immediate safety measures.

In a statement, the school system acknowledged the emotional impact of the situation on the community and promised to provide updates after the board meeting regarding any changes to school protocols.

The previous tragedy at Apalachee High School occurred on September 4 when a 14-year-old student, Colt Gray, carried out a shooting that claimed the lives of two teachers and two students. Gray has been indicted on multiple charges as an adult, including aggravated assault.

Colt's father, Colin Gray, was also arrested for purchasing the firearm used in the shooting and giving it to his son as a Christmas gift. He faces numerous charges, including second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter.

Georgia is among the states in the U.S. that hold parents legally accountable for their children's actions.
