MUMBAI: Everything could have gone wrong for Meb Keflezighi in preparation for the Athens Olympics marathon in 2004. But after a dog bite incident seven days before the race, and an intruder during the 42.2 km journey, Keflezighi was standing on the podium, finishing at the Panathinaiko Stadium, used in 1896, and receiving his medal in the new stadium. In a chat with TOI, Keflezighi, who is in the city as a Tata Mumbai Marathon ambassador, recollected his greatest day at the Olympics.
He won the silver medal behind Italian Stefano Baldini in Athens.
