A warning over the danger surrounding fires stemming from a popular kitchen appliance has been issued.
A go-to appliance for most people on a daily basis, the toaster, has one part often neglected from cleaning lists which poses a potential fire hazard.
The crumbs that get stuck or aren't regularly cleaned or cleared out from toasters can result in fires, the Liverpool Echo reported.

Smoke and flames can spark from the combination of dry breadcrumbs and extreme heat. Actively taking out these crumbs also allows your toaster to operate much more smoothly
Christian Strandoo, product manager at Morphy Richards, told the Echo: "There are really two types of toaster owners; those that regularly empty their toaster’s crumb tray, and those that don’t even know they existed."
He stressed that these crumbs tend to accumulate inside the toaster slots at the crumb tray. Mr Strandoo has highlighted one little-known cleaning hack that may help prevent this build-up and any potential fire hazard.
"If you’ve never noticed it before, the crumb tray compartment can usually be opened from the back of the toaster and it will slide out from underneath."
"Some toasters, such as four-slice models, might have more than one tray," he added.
