Rachel Leishman and Rachel Tolleson are ready for their rockstar era with AMC’s hit show. This is The Mary Sue’s new recap podcast and we’ll be focusing on different programs if Vampires aren’t your thing. (Seriously, what’s going on over there? This is the best show on TV!)

Up first, we have a rundown of everything that’s coming our way with The Vampire Lestat. AMC’s Interview with the Vampire has had the Internet in a chokehold from the word go. Now, after the fandom just had its most exciting weekend in a while, Rachel brings aboard the staff to explore a fan-favorite entry just on the horizon.

During the episode we have Tolleson joking about how much more queer the AMC show is than the movie treatment from years ago. And, Leishman has been hooked up to different Reddit, TikTok and other information streams over the entire journey through this series so far.

If you wanted to know what it was like to be a part of the massive Vampire Lestat concert that went down in New York, you’re in luck! Both of our experts attended that fan event and you’ve probably seen Rach’s tweets about the experience.

With the show out in the world, The Mary Sue had to give a take on the pop-culture phenomenon. Rachel Leishman handled the review duties for the site. While the show really shines for longtime fans, we have to give it up for Sam Reid’s chaos vector of a Vampire.

“As captivating as Tom Cruise’s Lestat was in the 1994 film, there is something about Reid’s performance as Lestat that takes the character to an entirely new level,” Leishman argued. “From Reid’s ability to command a stage to the quieter moments where fans get to finally see the trauma he’s been through.”

She added, “We’ve heard whispers of his past loves, his maker, and more who have hurt him throughout the run of the show but hearing those moments from Lestat’s point of view does change things. ”

The delivery of lines gets even more amazing than you’re probably thinking off the rip. The Vampire Lestat is a journey for our title character. And, prepare your bodies for some of the witty nonsense that will issue forth from Reid’s mouth over the course of this season.

Watch the podcast on our YouTube channel. And, catch The Vampire Lestat every week on AMC at 9PM ET. If you’ve got AMC+ you get it earlier in the day at 3AM ET. (Perfect for vampires honestly.)
