TKorStretch death: Tributes to a 'star in the making' Bristol rapper killed in London

Tributes have been paid to a young rapper from Bristol who has been killed in London over the weekend.

Bristol Rovers - who Takayo Nembhard played for as a teenager - and leading Bristol music artists like K-Ners have led the tributes to the 21-year-old, who was murdered in Ladbroke Grove in west London after travelling from his home in Fishponds to enjoy the Notting Hill Carnival weekend with his sister and friends.

Takayo was better known in Bristol's thriving music scene as TKorStretch, and was carving a successful career as a drill rapper over recent years.

T-Kor, known for performing in a mask, had produced some of the most cutting edge Bristol music of 2021 and 2022, and appeared at Love Saves The Day Festival in 2021. Bristol music artist K-Ners said T-Kor was a 'star in the making'.

"Devastated to hear the news of the passing of T Kor Stretch," said K-Ners, who described him as a "respectful young man with manners". "All he wanted to do is make music and make it his career so that he could take care of his family. You were a star in the making - rest in peace, young blood," he added.

A spokesperson for Bristol Rovers, where the talented young footballer was on the books as a trainee in the Rovers' academy, said: "Bristol Rovers are deeply saddened to learn of the death of former academy player Takayo Nembhard. The club would like to pass on its condolences to Takayo’s family and friends at this difficult time."

Tributes have been flooding in for the rapper, who dropped one of Bristol's hottest tracks of 2021 - Flamenco Dance, which has had more than half a million views on YouTube.

His manager, Chris Patrick, posted on Instagram saying: “Two years ago a young 19-year-old man came from Bristol to meet me at my Studio with his dad, his name was Takayo Nembhard AKA TKorStretch.

“That meeting took us on a journey…we recorded some great music together. His talent was endless and I can tell you guys he was close to greatness!

“So it’s with a heavy heart that I bring the news that Takayo (TKorStretch) passed away last night. He came from Bristol to simply have a good time at the London carnival and this is the end result!

“My deepest condolences to TK’s Mother & Father his Brother, 2 Sisters, Girlfriend and child that will never meet his father! TK was a good kid, a good guy and what has happened breaks my heart… “Rest in peace my Friend”.
