TK Maxx shoppers divided by unusual £109 shoes for people ‘who don’t have a garden’

Spring has sprung and shoppers are getting ready to ditch the big coats in favour of lighter layers and perhaps even some florals? *Cue Miranda Priestly gif*

And while florals for spring aren’t exactly groundbreaking, one TK Maxx shopper has found a pair of unusual sandals that might just be considered as such.

While shopping at the discount retailer, which often stocks designer labels for a fraction of the price, the customer snapped a pair of summer sandals that had been reduced in the sale, sharing the ‘bargain’ to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Group Facebook.

If you thought the Teletubby boots were controversial, then this Dolce and Gabbana pair will send you reeling. The poster shared a photo of the haute grassy sandals, adorned with faux flowers, which had been generously reduced from £760 to £109.

The post quickly racked up thousands of likes and hundreds of comments overnight, dividing opinion as people struggled to work out if they were the best, or the worst thing ever.

The comments section got really rather creative though - shoppers really had a field day with the puns, with one writing: “Brings a whole new meaning to ‘don’t let the grass grow under your feet’”. Another added: “What in the Alan Titchmarsh are those!?”

“What in the “off with their head” is going on here?” asked another, white a fourth joked: “Are they both the same colour or is the grass greener on the other side?”

This is what they looked like...

The witty remarks continued as one social media user commented: “For those who don't have a garden? They can feel the grass beneath their feet? Just trying to work out why these are an actual thing.”

“I’m not sure I like them but I’m sure they will grow on me,” another added: “Bet you can’t wait to plant your feet in them.”

Despite being rather unusual, some shoppers have been surprised at how much they actually quite like them. I mean, we can picture them paired with a nice pair of denim shorts and a summer blouse… right?

One said: “Why do I feel like I need these?” as another said they’d ‘rather these over Crocs’. A third coined them ‘the best things I've ever seen’.

Some weren’t so keen on the kicks, though, with some even saying they made them feel a bit ill.

One wrote: “The thought of the feeling of the fake grass on my feet makes me feel queasy.” Another added: “They’re making my feet itch just looking at them!”

They’re not the only controversial shoe to go viral in recent weeks though, with the aforementioned Teletubby heels sending the internet wild last week.

A pair of £2,089 boots from the designer Christian Cowan caused a stir on social media, after the pair of green knee-high boots paying homage to green Teletubby Dipsy were shared on the internet.

Fashion is quite often about pushing boundaries and being individual - but what are your thoughts on the D&G grassy sandals? Let us know in the comments below.
