Titans vs. Seahawks: Staff picks, predictions for Week 16

The Tennessee Titans will play the first of their final three games of the 2023 campaign when they host the Seattle Seahawks at Nissan Stadium on Sunday in Week 16.

The Titans have already been eliminated from playoff contention after losing to the Houston Texans last week. However, Tennessee has the opportunity to play spoiler to close out the season, with each of their last three contests coming against teams vying for the playoffs.

The Seahawks are, of course, one of those teams, as they currently sit in the No. 8 spot in the NFC following their Week 15 upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite the Titans being at home, sportsbooks rightly view them as the underdog for this game. Adding to that, the vast majority of experts are picking Seattle to win.

Does our staff think the Titans have an upset in them this week? Find out now as we take a look at the picks and predictions from our writers.

Hey, the Titans aren’t the only ones having a rough year.

A Titans team that is already devoid of talent is now riddled with injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Tennessee’s defense is entering the game without its top two cornerbacks and safeties, one of its starting linebackers, and arguably the best player on the team. That’s less than ideal when you’re set to face a Seahawks offense that rosters one of the best-receiving trios in the league.

Oh yeah, there’s also a chance they could be without their starting quarterback, as well.

Knowing the Titans, they’ll probably find a way to keep it close for a while, but in the end, I think Seattle ends up pulling away.

Final score prediction: Seahawks 27, Titans 17

Mike's pick

Andrew Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Titans are missing their entire starting secondary, with the exception of Roger McCreary, and their defensive line, which is already without top run-stuffer Teair Tart, won’t have the services of Jeffery Simmons.

I just don’t see how the Titans are stopping the Seahawks, either on the ground or through the air.

And, the Seahawks sport a good enough pass-rush to give Tennessee’s group upfront all it can handle, thus I don’t think it matters much who is under center, whether that be Will Levis or Ryan Tannehill.

This one stays close for a half, but the Seahawks pull away over the final two quarters to leave Nashville with a much-needed win.

Final score prediction: Seahawks 31, Titans 17
