Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks has spent the offseason at the team’s facility in Nashville, but prior to organized team activities starting on Monday, Burks was home in Arkansas.
Getting back to Nashville in time for the start OTAs proved difficult, though, as the second-year pro’s flight was delayed and all rental cars were sold out until later in the week, according to Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky.
“I am not missing camp for any reason, whatever it takes to get me there,” Burks told his agent, per Kuharsky.
Desperate times called for desperate measures and Burks considered borrowing the car of his agent’s son to get himself to Nashville.
But he found another way: after multiple failed attempts to secure a private plane ride, the Titans wideout finally found a pilot who could take him to Nashville on Monday morning.
“As soon as the sun broke the horizon they took off for Nashville in this plane whose prop was smaller than Treylon’s wingspan,” his agent said. “Pilot said he slept the whole way and wasn’t the least bit nervous.”
As far as if he made it on time, Kuharsky was told Burks was “pretty damn close.”
Bear in mind, this portion of the offseason program is voluntary, meaning Burks didn’t necessarily have to be there on time.
However, stopping at nothing to be there for the start of OTAs shows an added level of maturity and dedication that is great to see from a second-year player who will be heavily depended on in 2023.
