Titans trade away their star WR just before playing the Lions

Already facing a major discrepancy in overall talent, the Tennessee Titans will head to Detroit to face the Lions without one of their top talents.

The Titans are trading standout wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs for a Day 3 draft pick. Hopkins, 32, was third on the team in receptions (15) and second in receiving yards (183) and TDs (1) in his second year in Tennessee. He caught 75 passes for over 1,000 yards and seven TDs in 2023 and is a 5-time All-Pro dating back to his days in Houston and Arizona. Hopkins hasn’t been at that level in a couple of years but remained a dangerous weapon in the midranges and the red zone.

Tennessee already ranks 32nd in team passing yards, thanks more to a struggling QB Will Levis and a new offensive scheme that hasn’t taken hold just yet in rookie head coach Brian Callahan’s first season. Without Hopkins, the Titans receiving corps will lean more on Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd. Treylon Burks is on the injured reserve list.
