The Tennessee Titans were back at it making a bunch of roster moves on Saturday, including multiple pertaining to the injured reserve list.
The team announced it has placed running back Dontrell Hilliard on injured reserve due to a neck injury. Hilliard’s injury was thought to be serious after head coach Mike Vrabel ruled him out early in the week.
As for the other injured reserve moves, they don’t involve the activation of linebacker Zach Cunningham, who was designated to return this week. The Titans will once again be without their two starting linebackers.
Tennessee did activate defensive back Lonnie Johnson, though, and he could play a big role upon his return thanks to the slew of injuries the Titans are dealing with in the secondary.
Along with those moves, the Titans elevated two players from the practice squad for Sunday’s game, and promoted three others to the active roster. Here’s a look at all eight moves.
Placed on IR: RB Dontrell Hilliard (neck)
Placed on IR: WR C.J. Board (rib)
Activated from IR: DB Lonnie Johnson
Promoted to 53-man roster: RB Julius Chestnut
Chestnut will take Hilliard’s spot behind Derrick Henry. It’ll be interesting to see if he or Hassan Haskins comes off the bench first when Henry needs a breather.
Last night, Chestnut’s agent announced he had signed a two-year deal, so he might be sticking around through 2023.
Congratulations to client @JuliusChestnut on signing a two year contract with the @Titans 📈

Promoted to 53-man roster: DB Davontae Harris
Harris will provide some depth for the Titans’ injury-riddled secondary that will be without Kristian Fulton, Tre Avery and Amani Hooker in Week 15.
Promoted to 53-man roster: OL Jordan Roos
In the span of a week, Roos has been waived, re-signed to the practice squad and then promoted to the 53-man roster.
Practice squad elevation: WR Mason Kinsey
Kinsey will provide some depth if active, and he might even get a look in the return game with Board ruled out.
Practice squad elevation: LB Andre Smith
Smith has appeared in one game for the Titans. He played 19 special teams snaps in Week 12 against the Bengals.
