After losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars by 20 points on Sunday, there truly is no denying that the Tennessee Titans are a complete mess right now.
Not only have the Titans dropped five of their last six contests, but they’ve lost 15 of their last 20 games dating back to last season, which includes 10 straight losses away from Nissan Stadium. In fact, Tennessee’s last road victory came exactly 368 days ago.
As upsetting as the Titans’ ineptitude is, there is at least one silver lining: the Titans are inching toward a top-five pick in next year’s draft with each passing week.
Following the results of Week 11, Tennessee is now slated to pick sixth overall in the 2024 NFL draft if the season ended today, per Tankathon.
There are still seven games to play before the draft order is set in stone, but it cannot be overstated how massive securing a top-five pick in this particular draft would be.
It’s rather clear that offensive line (and more specifically, left tackle) and wide receiver are the two biggest needs for the Titans at the moment.
Thankfully, next year’s class is expected to have a handful of intriguing players at each of those spots, with Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., Notre Dame left tackle Joe Alt and Penn State left tackle Olu Fashanu being the best of the bunch.
With there being two quarterbacks expected to go within the first couple of picks, picking in the top five would essentially guarantee that at least one of Harrison Jr, Alt or Fashanu will be there for the taking when the Titans are on the clock.
Marvin Harrison Jr. is obviously the other #Titans

Any of those three would be potential franchise-altering picks. However, it’s going to take a lot more losing to ensure Tennessee will have a realistic chance to land one of them.
With their high pick in the second round, the Titans would then be able to address whichever of the two spots they didn’t take care of in Round 1 with another top-40 talent.
If there was ever an ideal time to land a top-five selection based on need and available talent, this is certainly the year to do so.
We’ll have to wait and see how these final seven weeks play out, but if the disaster continues, it’s nice knowing there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.
