Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel stated on Monday that quarterback Will Levis will get the start if Ryan Tannehill can’t go in Week 9, but he wasn’t ready to commit to who would start beyond that.
After such an impressive debut, there’s no question fans want to see Levis keep the job, even when Tannehill is healthy. Vrabel didn’t rule out that happening, but he also didn’t say it would happen.
“Until Ryan is healthy, I don’t think that I’m ready to make a determination,” Vrabel said of the starting job, per John Glennon of Nashville Post. “I think that (sticking with Levis is) something that could be a possibility, but again, we’re talking about hypotheticals and we’ll get Ryan healthy and see where things are then.”

While that’s not exactly the definitive answer those of us who want to see Levis get the keys the rest of the way wanted to hear, it’s worth noting the change in Vrabel’s tone from before the Atlanta Falcons game in Week 8, which shows the team is, at least, legitimately considering it.
“If he can go, Ryan will be the quarterback,” Vrabel said ahead of Sunday’s win.
We’ll have to wait and see what the Titans decide to do once Tannehill is cleared. It’s doubtful that happens this week, but it could as soon as next.
The Titans should stick with Levis no matter what, but he can help his own cause if he can follow up his impressive debut with another strong showing in Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.
