We’ve known for some time that the Tennessee Titans would be wearing their Houston Oilers throwbacks during the 2023 season, but it was thought they would only do so for one home game.
However, in a recent mailbag from Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com, he’s hearing the team might wear the throwbacks for both a home and away contest this coming season.
He also revealed that we should be hearing something at the end of this month in regard to the throwbacks.
Brian McClain from Adams, Tennessee
Question: Hey Jim. Do we know if the throwback jerseys will be home and away or just one of them? Also do we have an approximate release date.
Jim: Yes, and hearing it could be both (home and away games, not jerseys). End of this month.
We still don’t know for which game or games Tennessee will don the jerseys for, but Wyatt speculated back in March that the Titans could wear them against the Houston Texans.
Later that month, fellow Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky stated that wearing them against the Texans was on the table, but long-time NFL beat writer John McClain explained why he didn’t think that would happen.
Since Amy Adams Strunk has resided in the Houston area her entire life and knows how it would infuriate fans in her hometown, I doubt she's going to do it against the Texans. I hope she does. It would ignite the long-overdue rivalry!

As McClain rightly points out, the Titans wearing their throwbacks against the Texans would add some extra juice to the matchup, as Texans fans are none too happy that the Titans own the rights to the Oilers jerseys.
